Our Organic Range

Sustainability’ has become the byword for environmentally sound and socially responsible production with organic cotton being considered as one of the most sustainable fibres for textile production. Our range of organic cotton clothing is made exclusively in Tanzania. It is GOTS* certified and made using 100% organic African cotton. The organic cotton that we use offers many benefits to the community and local environment:Better for the environment by avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers, that would otherwise pollute the land, water and airBetter for plants and animals (many bees and frogs are disappearing because of the widespread use of pesticides)Not genetically modifiedUses less water - all of our African cotton is naturally rain-fed, not artificially irrigatedFarmers are paid a premium price for organic cotton and are given a purchase guaranteePremiums are paid towards community projects such as building wells for clean drinking waterHealthier for the farmers, smallholders and rural communities of Tanzania and Uganda.* Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified by Control UnionThe GOTS certificate is a guarantee that the organic status of textiles is maintained from the harvesting of raw cotton to the point when the finished garment is despatched. Since we provide ethically and environmentally safe clothing by choice, it is equally important for us to keep improving our standards, to not only meet but to also exceed your expectations.To help us we use products from suppliers who follow the advice given by, and receive certification from, many UK and International regulatory bodies, all of whose stringent practices have been incorporated into their own.The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) A non-profit organisation dedicated to the improvement of working conditions in the supply chain, with criteria developed in association with the ILO, OECD and UN. Factories our supplier works with are audited against the BSCI Base Code and encouraged to commit to a programme of ongoing improvement.Oeko Tex AssociationThey test garments and raw materials against the Oeko Tex 100 standard, to ensure no harmful substances or dyes are used at any stage of the production process or are left in residue on any finished garment. This covers the production, processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, export, import and distribution of all natural fibres.Bio InspectaThey provide independent auditing, accrediting and certification for thousands of organic products worldwide and issue certification for our organic cotton from Tanzania.Ethical Fashion ForumA trade association for the fashion industry focused on social and environmental sustainability. Our suplier won their RE:Fashion ‘Manufacturer of the year ‘award in 2008 after they were profiled, citing them as an ‘exemplary ethical business’.British Promotional Merchandise AssociationThe UK’'s leading industry body dedicated to promoting best practice around the sourcing, manufacturing and distribution of promotional products.EcoCert InternationalGoverned by public authorities and legislation, EcoCert provides inspections and certification of organic produce. They also verify the conformity of our supplier's organic cotton from Uganda.
